Operant Investigators Ltd code of conduct is set out from 02/06/2020 and testifies that all directors, staff/employees will abide by it. The code of conduct is based on the Association of British Investigators code of conduct as it is fit for purpose and of a high standard.



  1. Be responsible and accountable
  2. All staff and directors will be responsible in all operations as far as reasonable.
  3. Be honest and operate with integrity
  4. All staff and directors will never offer services which are not amicable to the law or unethical.
  5. Be cautious and thorough
  6. All staff and directors will be cautious and thorough and to avoid mistakes
  7. Be law abiding and challenge improper conduct
  8. All staff and directors will challenge anyone who breaches these codes and operate within the boundaries of both statute and common law.
  9. Be open and transparent
  10. All staff and directors will be open and honest in their duties.
  11. Be respectful and inclusive
  12. All staff and directors will abide by the relevant equality and diversity legislation and not discriminate on the basis of any protected characteristics.
  13. Be professional
  14. All staff and directors will uphold their professionalism at all times in regards to their duties.
  15. Avoid conflicts of interest
  16. All staff and directors will not participate or involve themselves in any work which could involve a conflict of interest.
  17. Keep data confidential
  18. All staff and directors will never share information with any other agencies unless bound by law.
  19. Lead by example and keep the highest standard of general conduct
  20. All staff and directors will uphold the codes of conduct to the highest standard and seek to ensure the strictest compliance with law and the ABI's codes of conduct as a product of this.
  21. Perform a Data Processing Impact Assessment for every case we consider or take on.
  22. Offer only services which comply with the law
